Acne Skin Care for Adult

Adult acne is slightly more complicated as it is often more difficult to diagnose the true cause. However it can be narrowed down. Although I have not encountered adult acne yet, I did some research and found out these chief causes.

  • Acne Care for Acne caused by Stress

Our daily hectic schedule which forces us to constantly be on our toes will take a toll on our body. Due to the stress to meet deadlines and bring the bacon home, our oil gland enables us to face the harsh external environment by excreting more sebum. Our body produces more hormones to enable us to meet the challenges posed to us. Following, the lack of sleep deprives our skin of rest, and they avenge by showing those nasty acne spots. Acne care caused by stress can range from simply recharging yourself with ample rest. Ensure that you are still on a balanced diet so that your body will be in equilibrium. Lastly, do not overtax yourself with stress and learning to manage stress can go a long way in ensuring your mind stays healthy psychologically.

  • Acne Care for Acne caused by Cosmetics

Cosmetics have the tendency to clot up your pores and will harden eventually when left on your skin for an overly long period of time. Choose make-up that are not oil-based and won’t dry up on your skin too much. Also remember to remove the make-up before turning into bed to allow your skin to regenerate and rejuvenate itself over the night. For more information on make-up, do take a look at the article “Acne Care for Teenagers”.

  • Acne Care for Acne caused by Hormonal Imbalance

For women, this may occur prior to having their period and usually blow over soon after that. However, acne may also be caused by birth control pills that suppress hormones, causing an imbalance in the body. Conversely, women in menopause may have “hot flushes” and this can cause the sebaceous glands to over react. Unfortunately, there can be no easy treatment for acne caused by hormonal imbalance and may require the intervention of a dermatologist.

Sometimes another condition known as folliculitis can be unknowingly misunderstood by acne. Hence, it is imperative that that proper diagnosis be carried out before undertaking any sort of treatment.
